Materuni Waterfall is one of the closest attractions to the lodge. Options for transport to the waterfall include walking, cycling, or taking a motorcycle.
The guide will take you on a coffee tour at a traditional Chagga shamba. Here, your guide will explain all aspects of the Chagga homestead, including the other crops they grow aside from coffee. You will get to see how coffee is produced—from picking the beans to roasting, and then drinking a delicious cup yourself.
Following your coffee tour, you will take a short hike (make sure to wear sports shoes or mountain boots, as it can be muddy up there), passing through local villages to reach the waterfall. Here, you will enjoy a traditional lunch freshly cooked by a local family. Following lunch, you will have the opportunity to take a dip in the refreshing (and quite cold!) pools beneath the waterfall. When you have had your fill of this beautiful place, you can start walking back to the lodge through the village shortcuts.
Later, you can visit the historical church and buildings built by the Germans, as well as the Mangi Meli Museum, all within walking distance."
